I can’t believe it has been a year since the PetSafe commercial pet photography shoot in August of 2011! So much has happened since then it feels like time has just flown by.
I was looking through my photo folders recently and stumbled on a composite I made last year of my personal favorite shots from my commercial photo shoot with PetSafe, and wanted to share them all with you here. I meant to do this a long time ago, but I’ve been a wee bit busy with clients and writing a book.
This 4-day commercial photo shoot was an absolute blast for me, but also challenging, because when I get into ‘commercial photography mode’ I produce shots that are quite different from what I normally do on a regular ‘portrait shoot’- in other words- they are commercial dog photos, not portrait dog photos.
In this case my client *didn’t* want me to produce anything too commercial, so I had to find a new marriage between my regular documentary-style pet photography and commercial dog photography. It’s pretty fantastic when my commercial clients hire me for my style, and then let me run with it. I love challenges like this, and I had SO much fun working with all of the people and their pets.
Here are some of the shots used in marketing and the tearsheets of final products. Hey, if you click through to their website, that shot there at the top of the homepage- the dog on the beach, is mine too!
Very cool! A huge thank you to all of the PetSafe models and their parents. It was a pleasure working with all of you, and I still look back fondly on that experience, even though it was over a year ago. 🙂
